How did Hellkern Warriors happen?
The story of „Hellkern Warriors“ begins in the shadows of mid 2025, when Kabal reached out to Mauricio with the idea of shaping a new musical vision. What started as a conversation soon grew into something more — a calling that needed a spark.
That spark arrived in June, when Tom Radar unveiled his haunting song ideas:
the raw and evocative riffs of “Helkern Warriors”, "Petrol & Water" and “Endless Road”. To capture the atmosphere he imagined, Tom recorded demo versions of these tracks, lending his own voice to guide the vision.
The effect was immediate. Kabal, Mauricio, and Fabian felt the pull of the music — cinematic in scope, yet intimate in its shadows. Each brought their own artistry to the table, weaving together threads of analog synths, spectral guitar lines, and rhythms that echo like a heartbeat in the dark.
From this alchemy, „Hellkern Warriors“ were born — an international collaboration bound by the desire to create soundscapes that are as haunting as they are alive.
“Endless Road” became the foundation stone, the first step into their unfolding journey, a concept they call: “The Pulse of the Void”.
The band name, „Hellkern Warriors, is taken from a computer virus (Helkern) — an unseen force, unstoppable, spreading silently through the dark. A fitting emblem for the band’s essence.
And so the journey began, with “Helkern Warriors” as the band’s first creation — bringing the invisible battle of the digital age straight to your ears.
Each member of the „Hellkern Warriors“ brings a unique shadow to the sound:
Kabal Apokalypse
Kabal Apokalypse/Dylan Phoenix, the creative force of Alessandro Vezzoni (Pietrasanta, Italy) — is a poet, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and founder of Funeral Records Autoproduction. With roots in black metal, doom, EBM and gothic rock since the mid-90s, his projects (Erotic Funeral, Toxic Industry, Binario 0) have shaped the underground. His vision is alchemical — turning emotion into sound. Co-creator of The Man With White Wings (2025), awarded “Video of the Day” on WHITELIGHT // WHITEHEAT.
Tom Radar
Tom Radar, known for his Berlin-based darkwave act Radarfield, took over lead vocals and added his lyrical depth and emotional delivery. With songs like “Vampire Diary” and the side project “The Man With White Wings” (with Dylan Phoenix), Tom has left his mark across international airwaves. Released EP „Red Planet“ (2014), CD „Black Planet“ (2024), and seven singles. Featured on compilations such as Sonic Seducer, Orkus!, and Dark Spy Magazine. Ranked #1/#2 on N1M (Electronica) between 2024–2025.
Fabian Parra (Ibagué, Colombia) is a guitarist, bassist (Hellkern Warriors), composer, and session musician with over 20 years of experience as an instrumentalist. He is influenced by extreme metal music. He has played in important Colombian bands such as Ghoulish Pain (death metal, CD´s: Ghoulish Pain (2009), Cenizas (2018)), Impromtus ad morteM (symphonic metal, CD´s: Infortunio (2007), Edén a luz centuria (2010/EP), Renacer (2014), Symphonies of the Death (2019)), and Lemarchand (industrial metal).
Mauricio Castro
Mauricio Castro, drummer, initiator of the project from Ibagué, Colombia is a musician, composer, arranger, and music producer with over 20 years of experience in the colombian music industry. He is the founder and drummer of the bands Impromtus ad mortem and Lemarchand. He also works as a producer and sound engineer at “Artgot Studios”, which he also founded.
Helkern Warriors is an interesting song. It sounds like it could be theme song for a movie or TV-show. And the video is very cool.
Thanks, Tommi! That’s awesome to hear — we love that you said it sounds like a movie or TV theme. When we were writing „Helkern Warriors“, we wanted it to feel epic and cinematic — like the soundtrack to a world where the Helkern Warriors rise to protect humanity from a powerful computer virus called „Helkern“, threatening to take over the world.
For the video, we wanted to capture that same energy — something intense, dramatic, and visually striking. We experimented with different AI programs to bring that vision to life, and the result feels more like a short film than a typical music video.
Petrol & Water, on the other hand, is completely different type of song. It was interesting to hear two sides of you in a sense.
And the lyrics do represent the times we live in well.
Yeah, „Petrol & Water“ definitely shows a different side of us. The lyrics paint a dark, cinematic picture of a world overwhelmed by industry and technology: black towers in acid rain, engines screaming, rivers poisoned — almost like a warning from the ghosts of what we’ve created. It’s about losing control, questioning which force will ultimately reign, and reflecting on the cost of our actions.
Musically, it’s closer to our first track, „Endless Road“ (still in progress), and to the songs we have coming next. These tracks continue in that direction — more emotional and fluid, yet still carrying the cinematic energy that defines our sound. In a way, „Petrol & Water“ offers a glimpse into the broader world we’re building with „Hellkern Warriors“, where intensity meets reflection.
What is the biggest difference when making purely electronic music versus when using guitars?
The biggest difference comes down to how the music is created and expressed. In the darkwave project „Radarfield“, Marcus writes the songs with synths, so everything is built electronically — layers, textures, and atmosphere. The emotion comes from the sound design itself, and everything is very precise and cinematic. Some of the latest songs were based on my guitar ideas, which Marcus then transcribed onto his synths.
With „Hellkern Warriors“, the guitars are my domain. Writing riffs is tactile and instinctive — bending strings, experimenting with rhythm and dynamics in real time. I also work to find the right musical tunes to match the lyrics, or sometimes adapt the lyrics to fit the music, to get the best results. It’s about channeling energy and expression directly through the instrument while keeping the song cohesive.
To me this somehow feels to complete Radarfield project as it was logical continuation to it.
„Hellkern Warriors“ is a different project. I focus on creating the guitar riffs and can work more directly on developing new songs. With the support of Kabal, Fabian, and Mauricio — each an expert on their instrument with extensive experience — we can bring a lot of depth and professionalism to the music. The collaboration allows us to combine our different influences and skills, which gives „Hellkern Warriors“ a unique sound and energy.
What is the next project?
Our next projects are two new singles: „Rain, Steam and Speed“ and „Endless Road“. „Endless Road“ is set for release this December or next January and continues to develop our signature sound, combining the power fans know with fresh, atmospheric elements. It blends our intensity with deeper, more emotional tones, and will also have a music video featuring all band members, bringing the story and atmosphere to life.
„Rain, Steam and Speed“ follows soon after and marks the next step in the „Hellkern Warriors“ evolution. Both songs offer a glimpse of where we’re heading creatively — still powerful and cinematic, but exploring new textures and moods.
